AmaWaterways is adding a Peru land extension after its Magic of Colombia river cruise, with departures starting in April 2027. An October 18, 2026 report from Cruise Industry News describes an initial rollout on selected sailings, expanding across that itinerary in 2028.
The company’s Iconic and Boutique packages each cover five nights and six days. After the cruise ends in Cartagena, travelers continue to Peru for Lima, the Cusco area and a privately guided Machu Picchu visit.
The choices differ in more than hotel names. Iconic includes the Hiram Bingham train and Belmond hotel stays, while Boutique pairs Inca Rail First Class with time in the Sacred Valley. Both published itineraries return to Lima before departure for home.
This is an optional post-cruise land journey, not a new river route into Peru. Travelers comparing the packages should check the eligible cruise date, hotel itinerary and separate air arrangements before treating the extension as part of the cruise fare.
