Japan’s planned Disney cruise operation now has a ship name: Disney Imagination. In an October 14, 2026 announcement, Oriental Land and Oriental Land Cruise confirmed a spring 2029 start, with Tokyo International Cruise Terminal serving as the primary homeport.
The reveal also outlines what passengers can expect onboard. Plans include a theater seating more than 1,300 guests, outdoor deck shows and character appearances around the ship. Approximately 30 food and beverage venues are planned, including three main restaurants with distinct themes and menus, plus cafes and bars.
Dedicated spaces will cater to children, while adults will have their own exclusive areas. The stern design will feature Ariel and Sebastian from The Little Mermaid.
The operation will use the name Disney Cruise Line Japan. This announcement establishes the ship’s identity and broad onboard plans; it does not provide a sailing-by-sailing itinerary, fares or a booking opening date. Travelers considering a future Japan cruise should wait for those details before arranging connecting travel.
